Once a pest issue occurs, it can be exceptionally tough to eliminate. To avoid pest issues to begin with, consider some general precautions. Below are tips on controlling pests in NC residences.

NC Routine Pest Prevention

Remove Water

All living things need water for survival, so it is critical to eliminate the unwanted water in your property. Fix leaky plumbing and do not let water remain standing anywhere in or surrounding your residence. Dry out water-damaged materials. Even high humidity can appeal to pests, so use a dehumidifier in moisture prone areas of your property. Eliminating moisture will make it less sustainable for pests.

Common Hiding Places

Avoid having any possible indoor hiding locations such as large mountains of newspapers, paper bags, and boxes stored for extended periods of time These easily store moisture and render suitable hiding places for rodents. Consider using plastic bins instead of boxes for long-term storage items.

Cover Entryways

Stop rodents from having convenient access to your property by caulking small openings in floors. walls, and ceilings. Add screens on floor drains, windows, and doors to stop flying pests from openly entering the home. Stick weather stripping to doors and windows to contain any obvious gaps. Especially in hot weather seasons, keep doors shut to minimize access into your rooms.

Forgetting Food

Try not to leave food out on counters and in sinks. This invites pests into your home and allows them to remain well fed. Try using containers that seal air-tight. Trash cans can also attract pests, so find options that hold in odors. Use a garbage disposal if possible to reduce the amount of rubbish placed in your bin to begin with.

Tips On Controlling Pests In NC Residences

The best method to control pests is to stop them from entering your residence to begin with by removing the elements that they need to live as detailed above.
